The Ghana Journalist Association in collaboration with Star Ghana and KAB Consult have launched a project to ensure that the media is transparent and credible in their reportage during the 2012 December elections.
Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Afari Gyan who launched the project in Accra described it as laudable and stated that if implemented well, it will go a long way to promote, enhance and consolidate Ghana's democratic journey.
The Project is in four complimentary phases. The first Phase will give voice to three critical Institutions, namely the Electoral Commission, National Commission for Civic Education and the National Medial Commission as enshrined in Article 162 Clause 5 of the 1992 Constitution.
The Second Phase will involve Political Parties and their manifestoes. They will have a chance to interrogate the Political Parties and their candidates about various topics such as Health, Education, Food Security and Energy.
Phase Three will comprise of the Judiciary and the Police, whiles Phase Four will focus on the strengthening of Ghana Journalists Association's Relay Resource Centre at the International Press Centre.
The goal is that, journalists must confer with the Centre for credible and inclusive results before publishing or broadcasting on Election Day.
