President John Evans Atta Mills on Friday said government would make sure that all trouble makers at the current biometric exercise are brought to book to ensure the peace of the process. He warned against utterances that are likely to incite people to take the law into their own hands.
"No one person or group of persons is above the law; we are determined to ensure that those who disturb the process face the full rigorous of the law. Peace is paramount."
President Mills gave the warning at the beginning of a day's working visit to the Central Region to acquaint himself with the progress of the registration exercise.
The President's first point of call was at his hometown Ekumfi-Otuam, where he interacted with the chief and people before going on with the inspection of the registration centres. He condemned reported cases of violence at some registration centres for which some political personalities have called on him to get personally involved in dealing with the situation.
President Mills said it is important that all Ghanaians recognise the need to preserve peace of the nation and said his commitment to ensure tranquility with all sincerity and commended the security forces for their role so far in maintaining stability at the registration centres.
He expressed his appreciation and that of his entourage to the chief of Ekumfi-Otuam, Obaaten Nana Akuaku Kyemenu (known in private life as Mr. Kwamena Bolton), his elders and the town folks for the rousing welcome accorded him.
Obaaten Kyemenu appealed to government to improve the supply of water in the town and road network. On the itinerary of President Mills are courtesy calls on the Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Council and the Ekumfi Traditional Council.
President Mills would also visit registration centres at Emintsimadze, Cape Coast, Cape Coast Palace, Nkanfoa, Amamoma, Kwaprow, Nyinasin, Effutu and Asenadze.
