Mr Mark Woyongo , Upper East Regional Minister and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central on Tuesday launched the party' campaign in Navrongo and outlined his vision for the Constituency. He said he would establish a Constituency Advisory Committee which would advise him on the requirements and needs assessment of the constituency including the disbursement of the Member of Parliament Common Fund and the HIPIC Fund. "When elected, I will also report on Parliamentary proceedings to the members of my constituency once in every three months particularly on developmental projects and to also listen to their needs and to repackage them for tabling in Parliament to bring about positive changes to them ", he assured the electorates. He indicated that he would also put up an office at the District Assembly where people in the constituency could visit for their concerns to be addressed. "Though you did not vote for me during the last election, I did not turn my back on you. Under my leadership as the Regional Minister, I brought about unprecedented development including construction and tarring of roads, expansion of the School Feeding Programme from 4 schools to 31 and construction of 150 boreholes". He indicated that the Navrongo morgue which was broken down compelling people to send corpses to the Bolgatanga and Tamale morgues for preservation was repaired under his leadership. He, therefore, appealed to the electorates to vote for him this time and John Dramani Mahama to bring more development to improve upon their livelihoods. Mr Cletus Avoka, the Majority Leader of Parliament, impressed upon the electorates to vote for the NDC massively to enable it win both the Parliamentary and Presidential slots come December 7, 2012. "You must desist from voting skirt and blouse during the forthcoming elections. If you engage in this act it would affect the good programmes and policies the party has for the country since those policies may not be approved by a divided Parliament. Voting for President and Mr Woyongo will prevent this scenario" He regretted that for the past 12 years the party had failed to capture the Navrongo Central seat and said this is a key to the NDC Northern caucus whenever they met to discuss development issues of the area., stressing " this is the time for the party to win more Parliamentary seats across the country in the impeding election" Among the prominent NDC party members who attended the programme were Mr Cletus Avoka , the Majority leader of Parliament and also MP for Zebilla Constituency, Mr Donald Adabare, the Ghana's Ambassador to Niger, Mr Moses Asaga, the MP for Nabdam, and the Upper East Deputy Regional Minister, Mrs Lucy Awuni. |
