Independent Candidate to vie for Ofoase-Ayirebi Seat

A 36-year old pastor, Reverend Jerry Aseidu Appiah, has expressed his intention to stand as an independent parliamentary candidate for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency.

Rev. Dr Appiah told the GNA in an interview that he took the decision as a result of numerous calls he received on phone and appeals made to him by people from across the political divide to "redeem" them.

He said he was an assemblyman for Ayirebi from 2000 to 2004 and the
Area Council Chairman, from 2002 to 2004 and was aware of the needs and aspirations of the people.

Rev. Appiah said the constituency faced a number of challenges and he
was confident when given the mandate to represent his people he would be
able to deliver to their satisfaction.

Asked whether he was not intimidated by the incumbent New Patriotic Party candidate who is seeking re-election for a third term and the National Democratic Congress candidate who is the District Chief Executive, he said with pressure mounting on him from opinion leaders, he was sure he would be the Member of Parliament for the area in January 2013.
