The Archbishop of Cape Coast Dioceses, The Most Rev. Matthias Kobina Nketsiah, has called on Ghanaians to play their parts well to sustain peace during this election year. He said this at a church service at Gomoa Dawurampong in the Gomoa West District on Sunday during the creation of a new Parish for the area.
The new Parish called Saint Joseph, was carved from the former Apam Catholic Parish and would have 20 outstations under it administration. Archbishop Nketsiah also called for love and peace to prevail at homes and churches, adding that "love should not only be on lips but must be a reality".
He expressed concern that "politics has permeated through our daily lives whilst wrong doings go on unabated".
"Some Christians after receiving the Holy Communion in the church go home and terrorise their neighbours". Archbishop Nketsiah expressed regret that about 60% of Ghanaians are Christians but they look on unconcerned whilst a lot of wrong doings go on in society.
The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr Francis Arthur, said Ghanaians could only go about their normal activities in an atmosphere of peace, therefore efforts must be made sustain the peace.
The chief of Gomoa Dawurampong, Nana Apagya II, appealed to the Archbishop to build a hospital at Gomoa Dawurampong because patients have to go to Apam to seek health care.
