The Birim Central office of the Electoral Commission (EC) has registered over 75,000 voters in the just ended nationwide biometric registration exercise.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at his office at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region on Friday, Mr John Appiah Baffoe, the EC Municipal Officer, said there was a smooth operation of the exercise in the municipality hence the huge turnout.
He said though there were break-down of laptops and printers, his outfit quickly repaired them for work to proceed.
Mr Baffoe noted that the frequent public announcements on the radio, the churches, markets and "house to house", among others went down well with the electorate who registered massively.
The Municipal EC Officer stated that "there were 245 casual workers who were employed for 40 clusters, under the 123 registration centres". He commended his office staff, the casual workers and the police for working diligently and vigorously to ensure a successful registration process.
